reviewed international journal on quality systems for education. Deals with research, theory and analysis concerning the restructuring of public education from primary to post secondary level.
 
Reviews the public reception of the RAE. Different themes are established including the spatial distribution of research, the organisation of universities, disciplinary differences in understanding, a perceived conflict between research and teaching, and the development of a culture of accountability.
 
Compiled on behalf of the Database Resources Research Group (DDRG) who investigated the hypothesis that level of BIDS ISI usage is related to the criteria of research performance in universities. To do this, academic usage of the database was analysed in conjunction with institutional performance in the 1992 and 1996 Research Assessment Exercises (RAE).
